A page with too many links containing the same keyword on it, especially where they have too high a density compared to other page content, will most likely be penalized for spamming.

  • Using tables to structure pages is fast becoming a search engine unfriendly way to build pages. Use CSS for clean, code light pages. Using ID’s to create CSS ‘hooks’ allows you to keyword load your page.

Submitting your Site to the Search Engines:

  • Search engines prefer sites to be submitted manually as this makes them unlikely to be spam. Follow the rules laid out for manual submission and this will ensure that your site is indexed as quickly as possible and that it isn’t held back as a spam risk.
  • Identify the correct directory for manual submission, if there is a choice, to speed up the process and help your position in the SERP.
  • Manually submit your site to the top three search engines (Google, Yahoo & MSN). Do it once and then if your site hasn’t shown up at all a week later, do it again. Avoid multiple submissions, as you will be penalized for spamming.
  • Once your site has been indexed, you do not need to do this again. There are a number of search engine submission services out there although there effectiveness is a matter of opinion. Here are the manual submission pages - Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
