Google Adsense History

History of Google AdSense:

AdSense was developed originally from WordNet, professors and graduate students from Brown University. This technology utilizing WorldNet was developed by a small search engine company based in Santa Monica in 1998, then Oingo changed its name to Applied Semantics in 2001, which was then bought by Google for $102 million in April 2003.

Now, present scenario Google AdSense uses JavaScript code to display the advertisements in the web pages.

Google AdSense for feeds

Google AdSense for feeds in May 2005, that runs on RSS and Atom feeds. Advertisers/ Web site owners placed there ads in the most appropriate feed articles; publishers will get the amount for their original content; readers can see relevant ads links.

When the user clink on the links or images then they are re-direct to the advertisers site as same as regular ads.

Google AdSense for search:

Google AdSense for search is more useful for increasing the revenue.

When the website owners place Google search boxes on their web pages. If the user click on the ads by using the Google search box in the web pages then Google shares ads revenue that comes from those searches.

However the publisher is paid only if the ads on the page are clicked.

XHTML Compatibility for Google AdSense:

In September 2007, the HTML code for the Google AdSense search box does not validate as XHTM:

  • non-standard closing tags such as </img> and </input>
  • Minimized attribute checked rather than checked="checked"
  • Using of  id, class, or style, such as bgcolor and align
  • a table structure used for purely presentational (non-tabular) purposes
  • the font tag
